Small storm chances remain for the time being
Many saw showers and storms early Wednesday morning. Some were luckier than others, and Lincoln was one of the unlucky spots. The heaviest rain fell along an axis extending from southwest to northeast Nebraska.
Rain chances do stay put on Wednesday, although the overall likelihood is lower. Hit-or-miss showers and a few rumbles of thunder will move through southeast Nebraska during the morning. Storm chances taper off for the afternoon, although a spotty storm or two is not totally out of the question.
There will be many dry points throughout the day, and some areas may stay completely dry altogether. We’ll otherwise be mostly cloudy, with highs in the 80s for yet another day. We’re forecasting a high near 85° in Lincoln, but we could easily end up cooler depending on the cloud cover. However, it will still be muggy.
Things will quiet down by Wednesday evening in eastern Nebraska. Meanwhile, another wave of storms develops in western Nebraska. These should remain mostly west on Wednesday night, although some of these storms could arrive around sunrise on Thursday closer to central Nebraska.
There’s a small chance to see some spotty storms on Thursday before chances increase again on Friday and Saturday. The Storm Prediction Center is specifically watching Saturday for a severe weather potential.
This risk zone may shift around a bit in the coming days. It’s still too far out to know the specifics of how this will play out. We’re keeping a close eye on it, and we’ll let you know if this becomes something you need to be concerned about. For now, I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.
