LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The smoke will soon be back.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services issued a smoke advisory on Monday.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires is expected to drift into north-central and eastern Nebraska.

DHHS said the smoke could affect air quality on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The air quality index could be anywhere from moderate to unhealthy, the department said.

Older adults, children and those with heart or lung disease may need to limit outdoor physical activity and stay inside if possible.

Smoke advisories have been a common occurrence in Nebraska this summer.

Smoke from Canada also caused air quality concerns in May, July and less than two weeks ago.

You can check the current air quality where you live at airnow.gov.
