Snow sightings for a short while, more expected west on Monday

A narrow band of snow developed in eastern Nebraska Saturday night into Sunday that left some with just under a foot of snow. Around 10″ was the highest report in a few places like Imperial, Big Springs and Poole, Nebraska. As for Lincoln, reports ranged from about 1/2″ to almost 2″. It was a wet snow that brought a lot of moisture for those who saw it.

But in Lincoln, the white sights did not last for long. By early Sunday afternoon, the sun was back to melt it all away. Temperatures during the day were in the lower 40s for our cooler day of the weekend, but temperatures will continue to warm into the middle of next week. Monday morning, temperatures could be as low as the lower 20s and teens especially over areas that have snowpack. By the afternoon, highs should be nearing the middle and upper 40s. Still cooler than average for now.

Jess Tomorrow Hour By Hour

As winter alerts expired Sunday morning, more were issued for southwest Nebraska starting Sunday night into Monday. Most out that way could be adding another couple inches or more on top of what they’ve already seen this weekend.

Wsa

That system that bring snow out west will bring light rain chances to south central and *possibly* eastern Nebraska along the Kansas border for a short time. Precipitation is expected to be light, with flurries possibly mixing in later on.

Jessica Stormcast

Past Monday, more sunshine and warmer weather is going to settle into our pattern to close out March. By Thursday, we may be seeing the chance for some evening thunderstorms, too.

Week Ahead

And a heads up that this next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week for Nebraska, so we will be covering more content as the severe weather season comes up on us sooner than later.
