Southeast Lincoln store temporarily closed after fire caused ‘heavy smoke damage’

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is staying closed this week following a fire at its building on Sunday.

In an update Monday, officials said the fire, which started in a dumpster, caused “heavy smoke damage” at the store near 56th Street and Nebraska Parkway.

“For the safety of our staff, volunteers, and customers, the Lincoln Habitat ReStore will remain closed this coming week while we clean and assess the situation,” officials said.

It’s unknown when the store will reopen.

Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln thanked Lincoln Fire & Rescue and its staff for their “quick response” to the fire.

No one was injured in the fire, but LFR estimated it caused about $200,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
