Southeast Nebraska child abuse case heads to district court
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A couple accused of child abuse in southeast Nebraska appeared in court Monday.
Brandon and Bobbi Myers waived their preliminary hearings in Jefferson County Court, and their cases were sent to district court.
Brandon Myers, 40, is charged with child abuse, third-degree assault and third-degree sexual assault of a child.
He physically and sexually abused a child for two years, authorities allege in court documents.
Bobbi Myers, 44, is charged with child abuse and failure to report suspected abuse.
She physically abused a child, according to an arrest affidavit, and told her husband’s victim not to tell anyone what happened.
They were arrested in early May.
Brandon Myers’ bond was initially set at $500,000, but it has been lowered three times, according to court records.
On Monday, it was reduced to $75,000. Brandon Myers must pay $7,500 to be released.
He is being held in the Thayer County Jail because he was an employee of the Jefferson County Jail.
Bobbi Myers paid a $25,000 bail last month to get out of jail.
The couple are set to be arraigned in Jefferson County District Court on July 11.
