Southwest bridge reopens, damaged by 2019 floods

SW 128th & W Olive Creek Road

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — SW 128th & W Olive Creek Road is completely back open now that construction has finished on the bank and abutment, says the Lancaster County Engineer.

The roadway was opened in late May after being closed down due to the 2019 spring flooding. However, a portion of the County bridge V-25 was damaged, including voids behind the abutment and a silt was forcing the channel north into the abutment.

Lancaster engineers quickly began to repair the bridge. The estimated cost is $36,000.

Engineer Pam Dingman, stated, “Lancaster County currently has 13 closed bridges and 30 bridges that need to be replaced. The current budget year has only one bridge funded for replacement. As County Engineer, I will continue to fight for additional funds for new pavement and bridges which I believe is of great importance to those who live and work in our rural communities.”
