LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – On Feb. 18, a house fire in central Lincoln took everything from the Downs family.

And now, a friend of the family is rallying the community to come to their aid.

Waverly Health Care Family Practice is putting on a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at Kelli’s Pub in Lincoln on March 7 at 5 p.m.

“Not even having a shirt to put on in the morning, I can’t even imagine,” fundraiser organizer Nikki McKenzie said.

It costs $10 a plate, and all of the money raised will go straight to the Downs family.

“They just can’t believe someone would go out and help them,” McKenzie said.

There will also be a raffle of gift baskets and baked goods, and free-will donations will be accepted.
