Lincoln East upsets Lincoln Southeast in first round of playoffs

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln East Spartans defeated No. 6 Lincoln Southeast 24-17 at Seacrest Field on Friday.

The No. 11 Spartans moved quickly down the field in their first drive of the game but ended up settling for a field goal to take an early 3-0 lead.

The score remained 3-0 heading into the second quarter before quarterback Jeter Worthley connected with tight end Caden Cetak for a 47-yard touchdown.

The Knights found a field goal before the end of the second quarter to make it a 10-3 ball game.

In the second half, the Spartans increased their lead to 17-3 after a huge 30-yard rushing touchdown by Worthley.

But the Knights kept it close, as running back Cash Buettenback found the end zone on a 1-yard run to make it 17-10.

The Spartans scored one last time on another QB run by Worthley to complete the win.
