Speakers at Lincoln Women’s March implore people to vote
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Women young and old marched to the Nebraska State Capitol on Saturday afternoon, calling people to action.
The annual event had dozens of participants and several speakers.
One of the speakers was a Lincoln high school student. She is part of a group that’s working with the state Legislature to pass a bill that would provide free menstrual products in all Nebraska high schools.
Janet Goodman is the president of the Lincoln Women’s March.
She said it’s awesome to see what women around the state are accomplishing.
“It means a lot to me,” Goodman said. “It shows the different cultures, the different diversities and the different minds and intentions and passions and thoughts. And it allows people to come to the table that probably normally aren’t invited.”
The main message at the march was to vote.
Goodman said whatever your beliefs, it’s important to make your voice heard at the polls.
