Spot storms possible Thursday while warming into the weekend

Temperatures shouldn’t be standing in the way of city pools finally opening in Lincoln this Thursday. We should finally warm past 70° by the afternoon which is what officials have been waiting for to open doors.

If you’re a fan of even warmer weather for the pool, you won’t have to wait long for that either!

What swimmers may have to pay attention to is lightning nearby today.

Pool Planner

Spot storms will be possible with the heating of the day this afternoon. Across southeast Nebraska, we could see early signs of these as soon as 1-2 p.m., moving in from the northwest.

The window to see these isolated storms will last through about 7 p.m. this evening.

Beyond Thursday, we’ll be back in the 80s and above average for this time of year as we close out the month of May.

Next 2 Days

June starts on Sunday, and we’ll be approaching 90 degrees by then. The humidity may be a bit more noticeable by early next week past Sunday.

Weekend Fcst 2

Early next week parts of Nebraska are already being monitored for the threat of severe weather.

On Monday (June 2, 2025), northwest Nebraska into South Dakota is highlighted for potential severe storms threatening hail and damaging wind.

By Tuesday (June 3, 2025), far southeast Nebraska into Kansas is highlighted and on the edge of what looks to be another hail and wind threat, but tornadoes may also occur.

Spc Day 6

These days will be important to keep a watchful eye over as severe weather chances return for early June.
