Spotty drizzle possible as April begins
As we close the chapter on March, it’s been a long time since we recorded warmer temperatures in February than in March. The warmest day in February this year was 81° while the warmest day in March was 77°. It’s been over 20 years since that has happened (since 2002)!
But April has been active so far. Some in northwest Nebraska are waking up to snow with a Winter Weather Advisory in place until 4 p.m. Monday. A few inches of wet snow is possible through the afternoon.
Meanwhile, some spotty drizzle will be possible Monday across eastern Nebraska as temperatures stay well above freezing. Then another chance for more moderate rainfall comes overnight and Tuesday morning, slicing into southeast Nebraska with Lincoln on the edge of some of those better chances. Clouds will clear into Tuesday afternoon.
The second half of the week will feature a lot more sun and temperatures warming back to near normal. We’ll be nearing the 70s by Friday again.
By April 1st, normal highs are in the lower 60s. By the end of the month, normal highs only climb to the upper 60s while normal lows will be farther away from freezing.
Even as things have been budding real early so far, we want plenty of April showers to bring some May flowers!
