Stabbing, attempted robbery in Havelock area

Lincoln Police are investigating after a man was stabbed Monday night.

Lincoln Police are investigating a stabbing and attempted robbery in northeast Lincoln, in the Havelock area.

Police say a man was walking after leaving Russ’s Market and was hit in the back of the head. Police say the victim then turned around and starting punching at the suspect to defend himself.

The victim told police the suspect then pulled out what he believed to be a small knife and stabbed him in the right shoulder before running away. The suspect is believed to have been reaching for the victim’s wallet but was unsuccessful.

The incident occurred Monday around 10 p.m., but it wasn’t reported to police after the victim went to the hospital for his injury on Tuesday.

The assailant is described as a man wearing all black clothing, 5’10 and about 200 pounds.

Police are currently investigating the incident, but don’t believe there is any threat to the public. Anyone with information is encouraged at call them at 402-441-6000.
