LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Saturday morning stabbing near Columbus that left a woman with serious injuries.

Deputies were sent to a campground northwest of the Highway 81 and Highway 30 intersection just after 2 a.m. on reports of a person bleeding from a knife wound.

When the first deputy arrived, a 20-year-old female was bleeding from a cut to her upper arm, officials said.

They used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding until an ambulance could get there, according to officials.

The sheriff’s office said the victim’s injury was caused by a female juvenile.

Officials said the girl fled the scene and was found in Columbus by the police department a short time later.

The girl was checked out for minor physical injuries and then arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

She was lodged in the Juvenile Detention Center in Madison.

Duncan Rescue flew the victim to Omaha with critical injuries.

Officials said Monday that she is still in the hospital in serious condition.
