Starting Monday morning, it's a whole lot cheaper to take the bus. StarTran is dropping the price for a monthly pass.
StarTran wants more people on their buses, and so, a substantial price reduction for 31-consecutive day bus passes. StarTran drops the price from $45 to $17. The savings for bus riders was included in the city budget in an effort to fill more bus seats. It's also a way of putting a little extra cash in the pockets of those who use the service.
In another effort to push ridership, StarTran is in contract with UNL to put more buses along the #24 Holdrege route for college students. The bus increase includes 4 to 8 buses. It starts in January.
