State Fire Marshal identifies victim in Heartland Farms fire

BENNINGTON, Neb. (KLKN) – State Fire Marshal investigators identified the victim that died in an accidental horse barn fire on Feb. 3rd.

The fire initially broke out around 6:30 on Feb. 3rd. at Heartland Farms in Bennington.

An autopsy identified the deceased as Nathan Dietrich, 32, of Bennington.

According to the autopsy, the cause of death was smoke inhalation related to the fire, Dietrich was an employee of Heartland Farms.

Many members of the community are showing support for Heartland farms through donations and safe housing for the animals.
