LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A California man was arrested in central Nebraska after authorities say he was caught with more than 240 pounds of cocaine.

On Tuesday afternoon, a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol pulled over a semitrailer near mile marker 254 on Interstate 80, just southwest of Elm Creek.

During a search of the semi, authorities said the trooper became increasingly suspicious of criminal activity.

According to officials, a state patrol K9 smelled a controlled substance in the cab of the semi.

A search of the cab revealed 242 pounds of suspected cocaine concealed underneath the bed.

The driver — 30-year-old Arwinderjit Singh of Manteca, California — was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of an open alcohol container and displaying a fictitious license plate.

He was lodged in the Dawson County Jail.
