State Patrol: Colorado teen arrested after lengthy chase in western Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Colorado teen was arrested Thursday after a lengthy chase in western Nebraska.
Around 6:30 p.m. MT, a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol saw an Infinity Q50 traveling over 100 mph on Interstate 80 near Big Springs.
The trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and fled eastbound on I-80.
According to the state patrol, the suspect vehicle reached speeds of over 140 mph and passed cars on the shoulder during the chase.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips near Sutherland, and the vehicle stopped on Highway 25.
According to the state patrol, the driver ran off, and the passenger immediately surrendered.
Troopers and deputies searched the area for around one hour until the driver was found and arrested without further incident.
A search of the vehicle revealed psilocybin mushrooms, THC edibles, drug paraphernalia and a bottle of alcohol.
The driver, an 18-year-old male from Colorado, was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, no operator’s license and other charges.
The passenger, also an 18-year-old male from Colorado, was cited for minor in possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
