State Patrol removes 64 impaired drivers from Nebraska roads

Nebraska roads were made a little safer during the holidays thanks to the Nebraska State Patrol.

NSP made 64 arrests for drunk or drugged driving during it’s annual “You Drink & Drive, You Lose” campaign, the agency said in a news release.

The enforcement ran from December 14 through January 1.

NSP also cited 1,055 people for speeding, 75 for driving under suspension, 54 for no proof of insurance, and issued 13 MIPs, 35 open container citations, 57 no seat belt citations and gave out 15 citations for improper child restraints.

Troopers made an additional 66 arrests for people in possession of drugs, and six for reckless driving.

Part of the campaign took place during a snow storm, during which time troopers helped nearly 800 motorists in needs of assistance.

The “You Drink & Drive, You Lose” campaign is made possible thanks in part to a grant for $25,000 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
