State Patrol seizes 78 pounds of pot in I-80 busts

Two people have been arrested after the Nebraska State Patrol found them driving large amounts of marijuana along I-80. 

NSP seized 78 pounds of marijuana in two traffic stops, both near North Platte. 

The first stop happened Sunday, Nov. 18 when a K-9 detected marijuana in a vehicle near exit 179. 

Troopers searched the vehicle and found 48 pounds of marijuana hidden in luggage. 

 

The driver, Doreen Cahill, 27, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, was arrested on a number of charges. 

The second stop happened Monday, Nov. 26 after troopers became suspicious of criminal activity. 

That stop yielded 30 pounds of marijuana. 

The driver and passenger were both arrested.

The driver was released and the passenger, a 17-year-old from California, was taken to jail on a number of charges.
