Steady summer temperatures this week
Most will be dry today with some areas of fog to wake up to that will improve with time as the sun rises in the sky. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for some counties in northeast Nebraska until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, where the visibility may drop to a 1/4-mile, if not less, during the morning commute.
Storms have really struggled to hold together in any one location across Nebraska overnight. Most recently, some spot showers had been seen between Beatrice and Pawnee City.
It’ll be another very warm start to the first day of school for some in Lincoln (Catholic schools) and this next day of the work week. Temperatures will be similar to Monday, warming to around 90 with plenty of humidity to make it feel worse.
Swampy conditions will continue as the temperatures will feel close to 100 again this afternoon.
An area of high pressure over northeast Nebraska has been responsible for the areas of fog early.
That high pressure will lead to a day of sunshine and some fair-weather clouds over eastern Nebraska, keeping pop-up storms toward western and south-central Nebraska with the heating of the day. Those will likely dissipate toward sunset.
Temperatures will be near 90° through the end of the week, right before a pattern change is anticipated to bring more of those fall feels back to the forecast.
A seasonal difference will be felt toward the later part of this upcoming weekend into early next week. Below is the temperature outlook for August 24th-28th, with good chances of below average temperatures across Nebraska and especially toward the Great Lakes region.
For the end of August (below), a signal still shows up for a chance at below average temperatures for the end of next week as well.
