Still comfortable before a warmer weekend
Following the past couple days in the 70s, we are cooler to end the work week. But have no fear, we’ll still be quite comfortable.
Mild temperatures to start Thursday morning have been in the 40s for most across southeast Nebraska under some cloud cover. What started as some thunderstorms in western Nebraska has fizzled to what may fall as a few sprinkles early this morning in eastern Nebraska.
Despite the cloud cover clearing by the afternoon, northwesterly flow will keep us about 10 degrees cooler in southeast Nebraska on Thursday. Winds will be around 10-25 mph throughout the day.
With just how dry we’re expected to be the rest of this week, this weekend and into Monday, there will be a very high risk of fire danger through that timeframe. If anything were to manage to spark and catch fire, it would spread very quickly.
A stronger breeze will be out of the northwest first to the end of the work week, keeping temperatures slightly cooler.
Then, we’ll get a good southerly breeze back through the weekend that will cause temperatures to warm each day with the warmest day expected to be Monday.
That comes before our next system we are watching especially Tuesday into Wednesday, that may start as some light rain Tuesday, before a mix to snow transition on Wednesday. Too early to know a ton of those details, but we are watching midweek.
