Still feeling like summer; wet weekend likely
Overnight showers and thunderstorms continue to dwindle now into early Wednesday. The better chance to see some light showers the rest of the morning will be those around Highway 81 and west, with just a few sprinkles perhaps for us in Lincoln.
Most will miss out from this, but we’re still looking quite wet over the weekend.
Clouds will clear by the afternoon, allowing conditions to heat up quickly again. Highs on Wednesday will be around 90° as another day well above normal.
Few isolated storms are possible as soon as this evening and overnight, with most of southeast Nebraska in a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk. The higher risk today (Slight) covers northeast Nebraska toward West Point and Norfolk. Better chance to see some hail, gusty winds and maybe an isolated spin-up will be in that area shaded in yellow.
That leaves us with overall summer-like days ahead through the end of the work week. Thursday will feel especially toasty under direct sunlight.
The system expected to bring rain Friday and through the weekend is slowing down, however. That may be enough to hold off rain until late Friday night (maybe even past the Husker night game). Rain chances increase overnight and throughout Saturday, lasting into Sunday.
Many of us are looking at decent odds to see well over an inch, if not closer to 2″ of rain through the weekend.
