Still on the roller coaster ride; flurries possible Tuesday
We’re coming off of a very warm weekend spent in record territory. We did manage to set a new record high on Saturday, reaching 68° in Lincoln.
On Sunday, we came within two degrees of the record high. This was all impressive for this time of the year: many going without extra layers/coats and hitting the greens.
While we stay warm on Monday, temperatures continue to drop through the upcoming week. After a weekend of southern winds for the most part, west-northwest winds on Monday cause temperatures to drop to the 50s.
Especially in the afternoon, Monday will be breezy. The strongest wind gusts will be around 30-35 mph today. But north of I-80, gusty winds will be on the order of 35-40 mph to limit some high temperatures closer to South Dakota in the upper 30s.
We have yet to get off this roller coaster ride. Plunging temperatures by the end of the week mean highs in the 20s and 30s, before what appears to be another weekend warm up.
Precipitation chances this week look to have little to no accumulation again as we get colder.
In the near future, flurries will be possible Tuesday morning and again by Tuesday evening. There could be a little more organization to some of the light snow showers during Tuesday evening’s commute toward Omaha and northeast Nebraska.
