Still warm, but a lot windier on Wednesday
Our stretch of warm weather will continue into Wednesday. It will be another afternoon with high temperatures in the upper-70s across the area.
We do expect a wave of clouds to arrive in eastern Nebraska sometime during the morning. These should stick around into the afternoon. Overall, we expect a mix of sun and clouds.
While it’ll still be warm, the wind will be a much bigger factor compared to recent days. Southerly winds will be sustained on Wednesday afternoon at 20-30 mph, with gusts pushing 40-45 mph.
We stay warm and windy on Thursday, and we’ll keep some clouds around as well. While most of the day remains dry, a few storms will be possible late Thursday and into Friday morning as a cold front passes. That cold front will send temperatures plummeting on Friday.
A few of these storms may be on the stronger side. Much of southeast Nebraska has been placed under a “Marginal” (Level 1/5) risk for severe weather for Thursday night. Some portions of south central Nebraska are under a “Slight” (Level 2/5) risk for severe weather.
While the bigger severe weather potential appears to be in Kansas, this will be something to watch. Damaging winds, hail, and a slim chance for an isolated tornado are not out of the question late Thursday.
Some lingering showers may stick around through Saturday morning, but the latest data suggest that we dry out by Sunday.
