Still warm, windy with rain possible out west into the weekend
Conditions will still favor high winds on Friday, yet it’s not going to be quite as windy as yesterday. Thursday gusts topped out at 45 mph here in Lincoln, whereas today gusts will be around 35-40 mph out of the south.
The morning will start on the mild side with temperatures still in the 50s. Mostly sunny skies on Friday and all that wind will equate to another warmer afternoon with highs in the upper 70s.
This will be one of the windier games of the entire season for high school hopefuls in football games tonight. Our Game of the Week has York facing off against Seward, and winds will be around 20-30 mph through this one.
Some forcing and moisture returning to southwest Nebraska will promote some showers and thunderstorms Friday evening. But as this activity attempts to move further east into the weekend, the forcing weakens and there’s more dry air to limit what we see falling from the sky.
More scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will happen in northwest and north-central Nebraska into Friday night, but most of the coverage dissipates into Saturday morning.
That means this weekend is trending fairly dry for all of us in southeast Nebraska. With not as much cloud cover too, we’ll continue fairly warm days for this time of the year – around 80° on Sunday.
But beautiful in Bloomington: Husker fans traveling to Indiana for the away game on Saturday will have great football weather with light winds and comfortable temperatures.
Our next chance for rain here at home will be on Monday, but some dry air still may limit potential totals to around a tenth of an inch if not less.
