Storms crossing the state, arriving Thursday morning
We were cooler yet(!) with mostly clear skies overnight; temperatures fell to the upper 50s with light winds for a fantastic morning so far. We’re talking temperatures early today that felt more like early September, rather than early August.
And today will feature more sunshine from sunup to sundown. Those characteristics will have temperatures rebounding warmer than Tuesday as we top out around the lower and middle 80s.
The next best chance for rain across the state will be Wednesday evening through Thursday. Compared to storms a week ago, this round will not be much to fret about. There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for most of the state, yet Lincoln and Omaha are not included as of the latest update early Wednesday morning.
Scattered storms will cross the state as another cold front swings through. Some storms could bring some small hail and gusty winds. Rain chances will increase for eastern Nebraska early Thursday and throughout the morning.
Better chances for southeast Nebraska look to develop by Thursday late morning into the early afternoon.
This cold front will reinforce another cooler air mass for the coming days. Temperatures again will only warm to the upper 70s through the end of the work week.
Friday and into the weekend, we’ll see skies return to be mostly sunny. Storm chances will increase by Sunday into Monday.
