Storms hold off for Husker game; cooler, rainy into fall
Game day festivities throughout Friday look hot with less humidity. Mixing in water breaks would help with temperatures trying for the middle 90s during the peak heating hours today.
Storms still look to hold off until after the Husker game in Lincoln as well. Some scattered storms will try to develop near the Kansas border and move north/northeast, but these likely won’t materialize until after about 11 p.m. or midnight.
Scattered showers and storms will be present throughout Saturday – first in the early morning, then again by the later afternoon. The wettest timeframe looks to be Saturday night into Sunday with most of the rain falling on Sunday.
There’s a very small risk of severe weather in tonight’s late chance, and it’ll be a risk associated with possible gusty winds.
Saturday afternoon’s severe risk depends on if clouds clear and we see some afternoon heating. So again, southeast Nebraska is highlighted in a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) low-end risk for Saturday.
There’s been a slight shift south in where most of the rain will fall across the state, but southeast Nebraska is still expecting widespread rain totals around 1″ as activity tapers off into Sunday evening.
Because of cloud cover and rainy conditions Sunday (fall equinox), temperatures will be limited to just the lower 60s for a high!
We’ll likely stay cool in the 60s and 70s throughout next week as well.
