Storms likely with severe threat across eastern Nebraska Monday afternoon and evening
Widespread rain across Nebraska from thunderstorms Sunday into early Monday. Even flash flooding was reported from 4-6″ of rain falling for some through Webster, Nuckolls, Clay and Fillmore counties.
Can’t remember the last time we woke up to over an 1″ of rain in most rain gauges!
More rain is on the way with storms likely by Monday afternoon and evening. There is a threat for severe weather with these storms as well.
A Slight to Enhanced (Level 3 of 5) risk covers eastern Nebraska with all severe hazards on the table. The risk for severe weather increases across far southeast Nebraska toward Kansas and Missouri.
Areas that saw a lot of rain Sunday night into early Monday will need to be mindful of more rain potentially leading to isolated flooding concerns.
Some tornadoes will be possible with storms after about 4 p.m. Monday into the evening hours. Be weather aware today!
The primary concern will be large to very large hail. Black hash marks across eastern Nebraska means hail 2″ in diameter (if not larger) will be possible.
Damaging winds will be possible as well, again with higher probabilities toward extreme southeast Nebraska.
Storms may linger into early Tuesday with a cool, mostly cloudy day in store for the second day of the week.
More sunshine returns with comfortable weather by Wednesday and Thursday.
