Storms possible Wednesday evening; Temperatures remain below normal

A cold front moving towards Nebraska will spark showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon in to Wednesday night.  Ahead of storms, skies will remain sunny through the morning and early afternoon.  Expect to see clouds increasing by mid/late afternoon.

Temperatures will climb in to the middle and upper 80°s Wednesday afternoon.  This is a few degrees below normal levels for this time of the year.  Lincoln’s normal high temperature for July 27 is 90°.

The best chance for stronger thunderstorms Wednesday evening will be over western portions of the state.  That being said, it isn’t out of the question for a strong thunderstorm to develop in central Nebraska and drift southeast in to the Tri-Cities.  Further east towards Lincoln, I think the window of opportunity for rain opens after 9 p.m. Wednesday.  I do not expect severe storms in southeast Nebraska Wednesday or Thursday morning.
