Storms rolling through some areas on Saturday night
After a day with cooler temperatures and passing showers at some points, more rain is in the forecast for Saturday night.
A Severe T’Storm Watch is in effect until 11pm Saturday for the yellow-shaded counties. The main concerns are damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall that could result in flash flooding in some areas. The watch includes the Tri-Cities, but does not include Lincoln.
Based on the trajectories of the storms as of Saturday evening, it appears that the worst activity will be to the west of Lincoln.
As Saturday evening wears on, we expect showers and storms to become increasingly likely across southeast Nebraska. Anytime past 7pm Saturday is fair game for thunderstorm activity.
Once we get past midnight, the bulk of the storm activity will be pushing off to the south. A lingering shower can’t be ruled out overnight Saturday and into early Sunday. In fact, there may be some fog to deal with on Sunday morning. We’re looking at a low temperature near 70° in Lincoln.
On Sunday, skies will clear and we’ll see quite a bit of sunshine. High temperatures should top out in the upper-80s to near 90°, which is near normal for this time of year.
Heading into next week, hot weather returns. We’re likely looking at high temperatures well into the 90s for most of next week.
