Storms Wednesday before cold blast

After some light drizzle coming to an end this morning, we are left with a lot of low-level clouds for a gloomy start. Some areas of really dense fog were forming closer to the Missouri River, too, near Nebraska City.

Storms first seen across south-central Nebraska this morning are expected to diminish before sunrise before activity starts up again out that way, making a run for southeast Nebraska. Storms will be possible by Wednesday afternoon, and there’s a chance some of these storms mature enough to bring small hail and gusty winds.

These do not appear to be severe, as we’ve been dropped from the Marginal risk per the Storm Prediction Center. That update came in just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Wed Afternoon

This round will continue through the evening, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible off and on through Thursday. Other than that, we’ll be overcast through the next couple of days before the real change comes.

Mb 4 Day Temps

By Thursday night, a strong cold front will come through and drop highs from the 70s to the 40s real quick. The morning lows will also take a nosedive. As we’ve been experiencing 50s and 60s the past few days, expect lows in the 20s by this weekend.

With how cold it is expected to be, it appears some precipitation this weekend could transition to mix with some flakes overnight Saturday into Sunday. It does not look to be impactful at this time, but we’ll get a better picture in the days to come.
