Street closures begin Monday for railroad repairs

Several streets will temporarily close for railroad repairs, according to LTU.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department announced temporary street closures beginning on Monday.

LTU announced the following street closures:

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, November 8 – North 84th St. between Cornhusker Highway and just north of the railroad crossing will be closed.
  • 7 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 10 – N 44th St. between Cornhusker Highway and Gladstone St. will be closed
  • 7 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 11 – Adams Street between North 33rd and North 36th streets will be closed.

LTU and the Railroad Transportation Safety District and Burlington Northern Santa Fe are working together to improve the safety and longevity of the railroad crossings.

BNSF plans to repair and replace railroad ties and ballasts at the crossings.
