String of vehicle burglaries hits south Lincoln neighborhood
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Early Wednesday morning, a south Lincoln neighborhood was hit by a string of vehicle break-ins.
Bruce Gottsleben, who lives near 27th Street and Pine Lake Road, said his dog heard a noise in the middle of the night that he assumed was just the wind.
Just a few hours later, a neighbor texted him about the back window of truck being broken out.
“They had gone to the driver side rear window and busted it out, and apparently they didn’t find anything they liked, so they just took off,” Gottsleben said.

The Lincoln Police Department said there were 13 reported calls for “larceny from auto” throughout the city on Wednesday, with multiple reported in this neighborhood alone.
Police said along with damage to several vehicles, items like credit cards and clothing were reported stolen from the cars and trucks.
Gottsleben said outside of a few incidents, the area is typically pretty safe.
“I am not worried,” he said. “You go through a period of emotions with something like this. First you get really mad, then you just get disgusted, then you try to forgive and forget and then you move on.”

Gillian Dean said her back window was smashed out, which caused a delay in her morning commute to school.
“I walked out to go to class, and I look up, and my window is completely shattered, and there is glass in my back seat,” Dean said.
She said that a jacket was taken from her car and that from now on, she will be bringing her stuff inside at the end of her day.
