Summer feel still sizzling before more storms
Summer temperatures come with more sizzle today and the chance for isolated storms in southeast Nebraska.
It’ll be another day we’re expecting heat and humidity before a front drops south to bring some relief.
With expected heat indices climbing, there is a Heat Advisory in place for far southeast Nebraska starting at noon on Thursday.
That advisory will continue until 7 p.m. this evening, as heat index values could climb up to 107° for some.
This evening – similar to Wednesday evening – another storm or two could quickly intensify and be severe.
Very isolated, not everyone will be impacted as the area of higher confidence in severe weather is well off the east into southern Iowa and northern Missouri. The primary threats would be large hail and damaging wind with any storm that manages to pop.
The stretch of days we’ll continue to monitor for severe weather continues Friday and into Saturday. The latest update from the Storm Prediction Center has shifted the Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk west into southwest Nebraska with storms weakening as they move east.
Friday’s threat is expected to take off by the evening first in southwest Nebraska. Early on, all severe weather hazards will be possible. These storms will try to come together and produce mainly a wind threat overnight, generally weakening as they move into eastern Nebraska after about midnight.
Then dependent on the environment rebounding after that round moves out Saturday morning, we could see some more marginally severe storms across eastern Nebraska again by Saturday afternoon.
Stay weather aware through the end of the week and weekend – June marches on.
