Summer-like temperatures incoming by Mother’s Day weekend
Temperatures climbing to about 90 degrees each day are in the forecast starting Saturday through a good part of next week. These temperatures are the normal highs in July!
This looks to be our first “heat wave” of the year, but it doesn’t come with a whole lot of humidity. Friday will start with temperatures closer to 50 just past sunrise, then warm to the middle and upper 80s.
That’s about 10-15 degrees above average for areas across southeast Nebraska.
Not as much of a breeze in the forecast for Friday as we get warmer. We’ll see more wind by the end of the weekend with Mother’s Day.
Starting Sunday and into early next week, we’ll finally see the wind pick up more. Gusts out of the south will be around 30-35 mph.
Looking further into the future, temperatures will stay right around 90° through Wednesday of next week.
All the while we stay quite dry until rain chances may come back that following weekend (May 17-18). And we need the rain – this dry spell could have implications to our summertime drought down the line.
For the year, 3.28″ of precipitation is only 47 percent of our normal 7.00″ through May 8th.
