Summer this week putting fall feels in rearview mirror
There was a nice chill in the air over the weekend, with temperatures dropping to the 40s both Saturday and Sunday. In fact, Saturday morning we tied the old record low of 42° from 1944.
Not going to be nearly as chilly to start Monday, with temperatures only falling to the mid 50s. We’re quick to warm as well.
Southern winds increase for a windy start to the week, causing temperatures to increase. We’re looking to stay above average in the lower 90s for the better part of the upcoming week.
Thankfully, the humidity does not come with these warmer temperatures. As of this morning, dew points only look to be in and around 60° at their worst through the week.
Other than a very small, spotty chance to see sprinkles Tuesday morning, we’ll continue to be dry.
A lot of energy in the atmosphere is being pulled south this week. A disturbance in the Gulf, Potential Tropical Cyclone Six, is expected to become Hurricane Francine with landfall in Louisiana around Wednesday.
This system will be the reason the humidity remains tolerable as moisture gets swept up in this instead.
That system will move northeast and weaken into the Ohio Valley by the end of the week, which keeps Nebraska dry.
Temperatures will slightly cool into the weekend as we get closer to mid-September.
