Sun returning in festive weekend forecast
Rain totals over the past few days were impressive: it’s not often that Lincoln and Omaha receive the most rain but over half an inch was officially observed for both locations!
But the scene Friday morning has been calming and clearing out so far, as do our rain chances going forward. The sun returns to put a nice bow on the end of this work week with temperatures warming into the upper 50s. Winds will be at their worst in the morning with gusts around 20 mph.
Just about everyone statewide will enjoy a lot of sun and highs in the 50s on Friday. High pressure in place will keep skies pretty clear across the region into the weekend.
With this holiday weekend, the warmest day will come Saturday. Plan on mild temperatures in the lower 60s in Lincoln with a dry, cool front passing through during the day that won’t change much. Sunday will be cooler and breezy, but no moisture comes with this front.
Saint Patrick’s Day falls on Sunday this year, with none of our weather expected to be “extreme.” Some fun weather facts about the day in history for Lincoln can be found below that date pretty far back.
This dry period will last well into next week, too. Bigger swings in the weather are looking happen toward next weekend with possible rain and snow.
