Sun returns Friday afternoon; Heat returns for the weekend
Clouds. Clouds. Clouds. That’s what southeast Nebraska has overhead Friday morning. However, don’t worry. There will be ample opportunity to use your new pair of sunglasses this afternoon and the weekend.
Clouds should begin to break by late morning, turning skies partly cloudy by early afternoon. Temperatures will remain below normal. The normal high temperature in Lincoln is 89°. Highs this afternoon should be in the middle 80°s – generally 84°-87°.
There will be a chance for a few isolated showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and in to the evening. The best chance will be east of a line from Lincoln to Beatrice. If any thunderstorms develop, they should dissipate by 9 p.m. Friday.
WEEKEND REBOUNDS
Temperatures are on their way back up for the weekend. Upper-level high pressure will be centered over Colorado and New Mexico. The high will have enough influence to keep the majority of the weekend dry. Temperatures will return to the upper 80°s to 90° Saturday. Sunday will likely be the warmest of the next seven days. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90°s. Factor in higher humidity and the heat index will top 100°.
