Sunken Gardens donation boxes robbed

Thieves hit sunken gardens in Lincoln.

They broke into three donation boxes.

It happened overnight Tuesday.

This is the 2nd time it’s happened this year.

The money is intended to help pay for garden upkeep.

Officials say it’s a pretty big hit.

"Historical data shows us that about 25–50% of our annual donations come in during the summer. So it’s likely in that range. We’re estimating, certainly in the hundreds, into the thousands of dollars," said Maggie Stuckey with the Lincoln Parks Foundation.

So far no arrests.

Officials have sealed the boxes for now until they can figure out what to do.
