Suspect connected to fatal Milwaukee shooting arrested on Interstate 80 near Waverly

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man suspected to be the shooter in a Wisconsin homicide was arrested near Waverly on Wednesday.

Around 7:45 a.m., the Nebraska State Patrol was told that a man being sought in connection with a homicide investigation out of Milwaukee was traveling through Nebraska.

According to the state patrol, a trooper found the vehicle near Waverly, as it was traveling west on Interstate 80.

Additional troopers responded for a felony traffic stop and I-80 was shut down out of concern for public safety.

The driver, a male in his 30’s, was taken into custody without incident. I-80 was closed for about 30 minutes.

According to the state patrol, the suspect remains in custody in Nebraska pending extradition back to Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Police Department said this suspect may be involved in a fatal shooting that happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

According to police, a suspect fired shots that killed a 34-year-old victim.

The police department said they do not identify suspects until criminal charges are issued against them.
