Suspicious package at Lincoln UPS Store contained toys, religious books, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A package full of toys and religious books caused evacuations Tuesday at businesses in north Lincoln, police say.
Around 3:40 p.m., a man dropped off a package addressed to the White House at the UPS Store near 27th and Superior streets.
He told an employee it contained plush toys. Police said the package also had “no airmail” and some religious words written on the side.
Out of an abundance of caution, the employee called authorities, and several nearby stores were evacuated.
Several hours later, Lincoln Fire & Rescue said the package was not hazardous and cleared the scene.
In an update Wednesday, police said the package contained toys and religious literature.
