SUV thief found with meth, sword and knife following a crash, Nebraska police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man is accused of stealing an SUV and then crashing it with meth and weapons inside the vehicle.

This all began when Vashon Franks stole a Nissan Pathfinder, according to the Grand Island Police Department.

It says Franks then collided with another vehicle near West 10th Street and North Wheeler Avenue.

GIPD reports 2.7 grams of methamphetamine was found inside the SUV, along with a katana-style sword and a knife.

As a convicted felon, Franks is not allowed to have a sword or knife.

He’s charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance and theft.
