LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Hospitalized with injuries sustained while taken into custody, 40-year-old Timothy Sheridan has been released and arrested for terroristic threats, first-degree false imprisonment, and third-degree domestic assault, among other charges.

Original story posted Dec. 30 at 9:58 a.m.

On Tuesday, Lincoln Police responded to a gun report near the 4000 block of Saint Paul Ave which quickly escalated to involved Lincoln SWAT.

Officers arrived on scene just after 6:30 p.m. where they contacted a 36-year-old victim and a witness who claimed a 40-year-old man threatened to burn down the apartment complex and shoot his way inside if he was not let in.

Fearing for their lives, the victim allowed the suspect inside the apartment. The witness was able to flee a short time later and called 911, explaining to authorities that the victim was in a relationship with the suspect and was currently trapped in the apartment with him.

Police officers surrounded the location but were only able to obtain and serve a search with SWAT six hours later.

During this time, Lincoln Police say the suspect was extremely uncooperative and screamed for officers to “just kill him.”

After attempting to negotiate with him, the suspect turned to go back inside the apartment. At this time officers shot him in the leg with a less-lethal round and released a police dog, which bit him on the right hand.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital, as two bones were broken in his right hand. As of Wednesday morning, he has yet to be released from the hospital. Once he is, the suspect will be cited for terroristic threats, first-degree false imprisonment, 3rd-degree domestic assault, and a weapons charge.

The victim was safely rescued and a loaded Glock handgun was found in the apartment.

The suspect’s name has yet to be released.
