SWAT team battles heat during two-hour standoff at north Lincoln home
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities in tactical gear arrested a man Thursday after an hours-long standoff at a north Lincoln home.
Lincoln Police Capt. Ryan Dale said officers were looking for a 27-year-old man involved in a domestic assault case.
Around 1:15 p.m., officers found the man at a home near 27th and Dudley streets, but he refused to come out.
Eventually, the SWAT team was called to help in the standoff. About two hours later, the man came out, and officers took him into custody.
Dale said police worked to keep officers, who were wearing tactical gear, safe in the heat.
“We had a plan in place to rotate people in and out so they could get somewhere cool,” he said. “We also brought in bottled water so they can stay hydrated.”
