Tamora volunteer fire department helps brighten the day of Seward family impacted by flooding

An area volunteer fire department made a surprise visit to make the day of a family impacted by flooding in Seward.
On Sunday, the Tamora Volunteer Fire Department paid a surprise visit to the Miller family, and in particular Adam Miller, who is an associate member of the department.
His family was forced to evacuate their home Thursday night in Seward.
“We are not afraid of floods. This one terrified us. As it came it came different, and more fierce, and by the time we decided we had to leave, the flood water was up onto our foundation already,” said Cathy Miller, Adam’s mom.
The Miller’s were rescued by boat after they found themselves stranded, surrounded by water.
For the last few days, they’ve been staying at a local motel.
When the fire department offered to give Adam and his brother Matthew a fun night out, Cathy was elated!
“He didn’t believe it was going to happen. We told him that Cody (with Tamora fire and rescue) was going to be picking him up, take him to the fire station. He didn’t believe us,” said Miller.
The Millers lived at their home on the west side of Seward for over thirty years.
Cathy says it’s by far the worst flooding she’s ever experienced.
For tonight, she’s happy that her sons will get some stress relief, getting to hang out with their friends and enjoy some pizza.
“I told them to bring one, possibly two pieces of hamburger pizza for mom. They are going to go have a good time, and that’s good for the boys, they are around friends,” said Miller.
