LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A semitrailer carrying a tank full of anhydrous ammonia crashed in southeast Nebraska on Wednesday.

Around 6:30 a.m., first responders were sent to Highway 81 on the east side of Hebron.

According to the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office, the gas did not leak from the tanker as a result of the crash.


Anhydrous ammonia — which is widely used as a potent nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture — is hazardous to touch or breathe in.

The semi driver was taken to the hospital.

There is no update on their condition or the cause of the crash.
