Teen arrested in 2023 theft at vintage clothing store in downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha teen was arrested Monday in a burglary at a downtown Lincoln clothing store last year.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 18, 2023, officers received a report of a break-in at Exclusive Hype near 16th and O streets.

The store was in “disarray,” and around $20,000 in clothing and shoes were stolen, according to police.

Security video captured three people trying to pull the front door off with an SUV.

One of the thieves then threw a rock through a window, climbed into the store and opened the front door, police said.

During an investigation, officers identified 18-year-old Jacobi Meridy as one of the thieves, an arrest affidavit alleges.

Meridy was wearing a GPS monitor, and investigators were able to place him at the store during the burglary, according to the affidavit.

An arrest warrant for Meridy was issued in January, and he has since been charged with burglary.

A Lancaster County judge set his bond at $10,000, meaning he must pay $1,000 to be released from jail.
