Teen assaults officer at Bryan Health hospital

A 14-year-old has been referred to the County Attorney after assaulting a police officer at Bryan West hospital. 

It happened around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police said the teen was being taken to a room in the youth mental health unit after he was combative with his family and threatened to injure himself, police said.

That’s when the teen rushed toward the officer and tried to take his taser. He then punched the officer in the face twice and tried to bite the officer, police said. 

Eventually he was taken into custody. 

The officer had minor injuries.
