Teen caught after crashing stolen vehicle into parked car in Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 13-year-old boy was arrested Sunday after police say he crashed a stolen vehicle into a parked car in a Lincoln neighborhood.

Just before 2:30 p.m., a person reported that their Hyundai Elantra was stolen near 19th and H streets.

Around the same time, the Hyundai crashed into a parked car near the intersection of 19th and J streets.

Witnesses told officers that three people ran out of the Hyundai and took off in another vehicle.

Eventually, officers found the driver – a 13-year-old boy – near 23rd and O streets.

He was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and lodged at the Youth Detention Center.

The teen was also referred on suspicion of leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
