Teen cited in crash with Waverly ambulance at east Lincoln intersection, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Waverly ambulance was involved in a crash Thursday as it was taking a patient to a Lincoln hospital, police say.

The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of 70th and O streets.

A Toyota Camry – driven by a 17-year-old boy – was heading east on O Street when it struck the ambulance, which was transporting a patient.

Police said the teen looked down to grab his phone, which had fallen between the seats, before crashing into the ambulance.

He was cited on suspicion of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
